• What makes Ponder different from other communities near Raleigh?

  We like to say that Ponder has a ‘summer retreat soul’ — a place inspired by the simple pleasures of fresh air and a fishing pond. Lake activities and camping under the stars. With a fresh mix of homes that puts you in the heart of it all. (But with a pool and fitness center, too.)

• What amenities are available at Ponder?

  • Ponder House is our community clubhouse which includes pickleball courts, a pool, campsites, kayak launch, yoga lawn, fire pits and access to Lake Ponder
  • Lake Ponder is our signature lake, made for days on a paddleboard or kayak
  • Our concert and event lawn will be a place for gatherings and live music
  • Over 4 miles of trails
  • Parks, including Turtle Park with a large climbing structure, and a leash-free dog park

• Does Ponder offer access to trails and parks in Wake County?

  Of the trails planned for Ponder, 2.5 miles of them will be a public greenway trail that Brookfield Residential will dedicate to the town of Wendell. This greenway will facilitate future connectivity to the larger proposed Wake County Little River Nature Preserve.

• Is Ponder a walkable community?

  Our trails and sidewalks will connect your home to our community amenities, and will connect to the larger proposed Wake County Little River Nature Preserve.

• Is Ponder close to the Little River and nearby trails?

  The Little River follows the eastern border of Ponder, and Ponder’s 2.5 miles of greenway will facilitate future connectivity to the larger proposed Wake County Little River Nature Preserve.

• What schools serve the Ponder community?

  Ponder is zoned for the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), one of the fastest-growing and best-performing school systems in North Carolina. The schools nearest to Ponder are:

  • Wakelon Elementary (K–5)
  • Wendell Magnet Elementary School (K–5)
  • Cardinal Charter Academy at Wendell Falls (K–8)

  Ponder is just over 20 miles from Raleigh — an easy 25-minute drive.

• What is Wendell, North Carolina known for?

  Wendell is known for its historic charm, with a quaint downtown that features early 20th-century architecture, local shops, a history museum, cultural events and seasonal celebrations (like a Fourth of July parade and “Wendell Wonderland”). You’ll find plenty of small shops and restaurants on Main Street, along with breweries like the Bearded Bee Brewing Co. and Tap It Social House.
