The Great Outdoors, Ponder Style

Ponder is beginning to take shape! The Triangle’s newest master-planned community is being built around a sense of nature, nostalgia and a deep respect for the land’s existing ecology.

The community’s character will be shaped by its wide mix of intentional outdoor spaces. There’s something for everyone—from a dog park inviting off-leash fun for four-legged friends and a peaceful fishing pond to relaxed alfresco gathering spots under string lights and a preserved oak tree. A concert lawn with a stage will create space for live music and community events too.

For those seeking more active pursuits, there’s plenty to look forward to, including Ponder’s signature Turtle Park, nature trails, a yoga lawn, pickleball courts and a pool.

Thanks to about 120 acres committed for preserved open space—that’s nearly a quarter of Ponder!—and its number of dedicated places and planned amenities for residents to soak in the great outdoors in movement or stillness, the community truly embraces its nature-centric ethos through the prevalent presence of nature at every turn. Turtle Park
Appealing to kids and kids-at-heart, the iconic Turtle Park will feature a grass field as an open canvas for activity, seating to witness all the fun and the can’t-miss-it turtle play structure showcasing Ponder’s brand emblem all while encouraging active play.

Camp Sites
Embrace the adventure of a camping excursion sans the roadtrip via Ponder’s Trex decking campsites and charcoal grills, conveniently located by Lake Ponder. It will offer a perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors from day-to-night-to-day again with your partner, friends or family. Plus, there’s the added perk of a quick commute home for extra snacks and s’more supplies!

Lake Ponder
Paddle in, the water’s fine! Imagine making a splash at Ponder’s namesake lake with a kayak or paddleboard, soaking up the sun with your toes off the dock, or settling in with a good book by the water. Whatever your pace, Lake Ponder will be more than just a pretty backdrop—it’s something you will choose to use and enjoy as part of everyday life in our community.

Ponder House

Ponder’s defining amenity, Ponder House, sets the tone for our community’s “fresh take on lake living.” And while there will be plenty to enjoy indoors at Ponder House, its 1,900 square-foot wraparound porch will be the perfect spot for spontaneous social gatherings or quiet moments taking in the fresh air.

Trail Mix

Ponder will have 4 miles of trails to wander, including 2.5 miles of greenway that will become a part of the Town of Wendell’s greenway system. And down the line, that stretch will connect into the broader plans for the Wake County Little River Nature Preserve for even more outdoor exploration.
